As part of my series on the Rodan + Fields anti-aging product line (called Redefine), this review is about their Lip Renewing Serum ampoules. I received samples of this nifty product and am really impressed with the results. Read on for more info!
These tiny nuggets are packaged sixty to a jar and make a very convenient, measure application for your lips as part of your nighttime skincare routine. Rodan + Fields promotes this product as an antioxidant and peptide rich capsule that helps retain moisture, reduce surface lines and smoothe and plump the lips. As we all know, young lips are smooth and plump! I find this product to have a beautifully emollient feel to it and my lips love it! Ingredients are as follows:
Hydrogenated Polydecene, Polyisobutene, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tribehenin, Fragrance, Sorbitan Isostearate, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Lipids, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide
So what the heck is this stuff? Well, the first ingredient is an emollient that moisturizes and smoothes the skin; a thickener that is also a film forming agent; a slip agent (helps other ingredients spread and penetrate the skin); another emollient; Vitamin E, a skin conditioning agent;a thickener; a substance that’s supposed to fight free radicals and reduce the appearance of wrinkles (the tomato fruit lipids) and peptides which are supposed to promote the formation of collagen.
Rodan + Fields suggest exfoliating the lips (by brushing the lips lightly, I believe, but I do not do that) and then applying the contents of one ampoule to the lips and leaving it over night. In my opinion, I think that you can get two applications out of each capsule---there is a LOT of product in each one! I did, however, apply the whole thing the first time I did it and then started applying only half each night. Either way I did it, the results were great! My lips became very soft and this will be a “go to” product for me this winter as my lips tend to get very dry. This is just the product to turn that around!
As is the case with most of their products, Rodan + Fields Lip Renewing Serum is not inexpensive at $53 for a jar of sixty capsules. That being said, I believe it is one of the more unique products in its class---it’s not just a lip balm---so I really don’t have any problem paying more for a product that I know will really solve my biggest problem during the winter---chapped and dry lips! For that reason, I do recommend this product!
